Kesha’s debut single, from her first album Animal, established her party girl image and reached the top of the charts following its release on August 7, 2009. It was written by Kesha, Benny Blanco, Dr. Luke and became the highest-selling digital single by a female singer.

We R Who We R (2010)

Kesha’s extended play (EP), Cannibal, was released as a companion mini-album to Animal. The lead single “We R Who We R," written by Kesha, Joshua Coleman, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, Lukasz Gottwald and Benjamin Levin, was a chart-topper. The song was written as a reaction against suicides amongst gay teenagers and urges people to embrace their individuality.
