McDonald's is taking a page out of Wendy's playbook and has announced plans to use fresh beef patties in their Quarter Pounder burgers.

By mid-2018, patties for the Quarter Pounders will be cooked fresh on order, the burger giant announced on Thursday.

Citing "overwhelmingly positive feedback" during test phases conducted across markets in Texas and Oklahoma, the use of fresh, made-to-order beef will be available for burgers in the Quarter Pounder family including the Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese.

Wendy's has long used a tag line of using fresh, never frozen, beef.

It's the latest move out of the fast food giant aimed at keeping and attracting customers. In 2015, McDonald's launched all-day breakfasts and has also committed to using cage-free eggs by 2025 and eliminating artificial preservatives from select menu items.
