After CTRL, Ananya Panday Says Reddit And Photoshop Should Not Exist
Ananya Panday and Vikramaditya Motwane recently shared their opinion on which applications should not exist.

Ananya Panday has impressed the audience with her exceptional performance in Vikramaditya Motwane’s film CTRL. The screenlife cyber-thriller explores the perils of technology and emphasises the impact of social media on people’s lives. During a recent promotional interview, Ananya shared her opinion on which applications she believes should not exist. During a fun conversation with Instant Bollywood, CTRL’s actress and director were asked to share their opinion on which all applications should not exist.

Ananya, in an instant, named the discussion platform Reddit, but she then changed it to Photoshop. Explaining her answer, she said, “I want to see how people look without their photoshopping filters.” The actress further elaborated that she meant that photo editing apps should not exist. Motwane, on the other hand, mentioned that the X platform should not exist.

CTRL’s director previously discussed the potential for a sequel and shared that the Netflix film had a different ending. Motwane wanted the protagonist, Nella, to seek revenge, but he ultimately felt that it wasn’t suitable for the narrative. When he spoke to Hindustan Times, the filmmaker explained that Nella’s journey is a cautionary tale rather than a revenge arc. “Maybe. I don’t know. I don’t buy into a sequel. I think in Nella’s case, she’s doomed. She’s gone down that rabbit hole again,” Motwane said.

When speaking about how he brought the film to life, CTRL’s director said, “It took a lot of research. A lot of hours of watching, a lot of hours wasted watching, on the internet about influencers, comments, how things work.” He continued, “I think the best thing I’ve done is to get Sumukhi Suresh to write the dialogues and Ananya Panday to star in it because they’re more in it than I am. It was a very collaborative effort. Knowing that I don’t want to be the one in his 40s telling 20-year-olds how to work the internet. I don’t know it, so I’m going to get (the right) people.”

Meanwhile, during a discussion with Raunaq Rajani in a video posted on the Netflix India YouTube channel, Ananya talked about playing Nella in CTRL. She mentioned that her character Nella “is like any of us”. Highlighting how her character is caught up in a world dominated by technology and social media, the actress said, “CTRL explores how we navigate the fine line between our online presence and who we are in real life. Working with Vikram sir and Nikhil sir has been an incredible journey, and I can’t wait for you to watch it on Netflix and uncover the connection between Nella and Allen.”
