Amitabh Bachchan surprised fans on Wednesday by appearing at a promotional event of Kalki 2898 AD. The Bollywood superstar has been giving media interactions and promotional events attendance a miss for a years now. But the actor made an exception for the Nag Ashwin directorial and joined Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan and Prabhas at the special event. Hours after the event, Big B revealed the real reason he decided to step out for the promotion activity.
Taking to his blog, Amitabh revealed he attended the Kalki 2898 AD promotional event due the producers, Vyjayanthi Movies. “My presence for promotional work is one that I shy away from .. but for the sake of the most humble Production team .. and more particularly , a team that is run by daughters of the Head .. it is a justification beyond personal choices,” the legendary actor wrote on his blog.
“To be a part of a vision of the maker and director , of some extraordinary thought was a delight that I had not imagined or was even close to,” he added. The actor also shared a few pictures from the special night.
At the event, Amitabh also touched producer Aswani Dutt’s feet and called him “the most simple and humble human being” he’s ever met. “Every time you are on set, he is the first person to be there. He is at the airport to receive you. Jab kabhi bhi hum koi aisa kaam kar rahe ho jo inko lage nahi karna chahiye kyuki takleef hogi, he’ll be like, ‘don’t make them do these stunts or have you taken precautions or not?’ Nobody thinks like this. Thank you so much sir,” Amitabh said during the event.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, the trailer released earlier this month suggests a futuristic take on the Mahabharat. The story begins in Kaashi, a land rich in resources, ruled by Saswata Chatterjee’s character, who demands complete loyalty. A prophecy reveals a child will overthrow him, and this child is carried by Deepika Padukone’s character. To protect his reign, the king puts a bounty on her head.
Prabhas’ character, Bhairava, a top hunter, believes it’s his destiny to capture her. Amitabh Bachchan’s Ashwatthama aims to protect her. The trailer ends with an intense glimpse of Kamal Haasan, leaving fans excited.
Kalki 2898 AD is set to release on June 27, 2024.
