Australia PM Anthony Albanese's Selfie Moment With Rani Mukerji, Karan Johar Is Trending

Rani Mukerji and Karan Johar delivered a keynote lecture at the Australian Parliament House ahead of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese met with the Bollywood celebrities and posted a selfie with them marking this milestone event. Sharing the importance of this film festival, the Prime Minister Anthony mentioned, “Rani Mukerji and Karan Johar are in Canberra promoting the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. It’s one of the largest Indian film festivals outside of India, and it’s been running for 15 years. A testament to Australia’s relationship with India and the vibrancy of the Indian-Australian community.”

The prestigious address took place on August 13 and the annual Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) will start on August 15. Sharing her excitement about being part of this event that strengthens the relationship between the two countries, Rani Mukerji told the media, “I’m proud to represent the Indian film fraternity at the Australian Parliament House and speak about the rich history of cinema that we have offered to the world at large. This is a milestone moment for our fraternity, and it would be an honour for me to speak about the growing cultural ties between Australia and India through cinema.”

On the other hand, Karan Johar stated, “I am thrilled to be a part of this historic event and to celebrate the incredible journey of Indian cinema. It’s incredible to see how far the stories we as an industry create travel, and this moment is a testament to the growing influence of the cultural impact of Indian cinema.”

Reportedly, the event also marked the introduction of the Yash Chopra stamp. The stamp recognises Yash Chopra’s cinematic heritage, contributions to Indian cinema, and role in expanding Hindi cinema globally. Yash Chopra was also the first patron of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. The festival is the largest celebration of Indian films and will take place in Melbourne from August 15 to 25.
