Los Angeles: Actress Brie Larson says her muted reaction to Casey Affleck's best actor Oscar win was intentional. The actress, who presented the golden statue to Affleck for his performance in Manchester by the Sea, stood with both her arms at her side while the audience gave the actor a standing ovation, reported Vanity Fair.
Many viewers speculated that Larson, 27, a vocal advocate for sexual-assault survivors, did not clap given that Affleck was sued by two women for sexual harassment.
"I think that whatever it was that I did onstage kind of spoke for itself," Larson says. "I've said all that I need to say about that topic," she
added.
In the weeks leading up to the Academy Awards, several articles brought up claims of sexual harassment stemming from a 2010 lawsuit filed by two women who worked with Affleck, 41, on the film I'm Still Here.
Larson, who won the best actress Oscar last year for portraying a victim of sexual abuse in "Room," has been using her celebrity status to spread awareness and provide a voice for sexual-assault survivors.
