Sara Ali Khan starrer Ae Watan Mere Watan has surprised fans by announcing the release date. The film will be released on the digital platform on May 21. However, there is a fresh update that says that Emraan Hashmi will be seen doing a cameo role in the film. Yes, you are reading right. Bollywood Hungama in its report has mentioned that the actor will be seen in a significant role.

Emraan Hashmi will be seen portraying the role of socialist political leader Ram Manohar Lohia. A source close to the development told Peeping Moons, “It’s a small but significant role in the narrative, and Emraan has fully justified it with his performance. He filmed his part in Mumbai last year and was more than delighted to contribute to this story of freedom fighters. Emraan’s presence adds an extra layer of excitement to this film.”

Earlier in the day, Sara Ali Khan took to her Instagram handle and shared the first look. She captioned it as ‘Desh ki kahaani, Usha ki zubaani World Radio Day par! #AeWatanMereWatanOnPrime, Mar 21 only on @primevideoin.”  In the voiceover, Sara Ali Khan can be heard saying, “Tayyar ho jayiye Angrezo se azadi ki akhiri ladai ke liye. Main hoon Usha aur yeh hai desh ka radio (Get ready for the final battle for freedom from the British. I am Usha and this is the country’s radio).”

Ae Watan Mere Watan is a thriller-drama inspired by true events and will see Sara Ali Khan play the character of a valiant freedom fighter, Usha Mehta. Post this, Karan released a new motion poster of the film.

Karan and Sara attended the 54th International Film Festival of India in Goa in November to release the film’s poster. The latest poster transported one to a bygone era where we see a tense, yet extremely focused, young girl speaking into a radio-like device in a dimly lit room.

This fictional tale is set against the backdrop of the Quit India Movement in 1942. It is a story about the courage, patriotism, sacrifice and resourcefulness of the youth of the nation in India’s freedom struggle.

Emraan Hashmi was last seen in Tiger 3 with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. His acting was praised by audience.
