Friendship in hindi movies has been one of the most popular and common emotion. The sacred bond has been made legendary by actors, be it the Jai-Veeru of Sholay or the trio in Dil Chhahta Hai. While most of the known friendship in Hindi cinema has been about supporting each other and being each other's back from the start to the end, there are few films where unlikely friendship blooms amid all odds. On this Friendship Day, we bring to you a list of 20 unlikely friendships in Hindi films.

Chhoti Bahu and Bhoothnath in Saheb Biwi Aur Gulam

The relationship between a depressed wife of a rich 'zamindaar' (Meena Kamari) and his secret confident Bhoothnath (Guru Dutt), was very unlikely. Bhoothnaath was a servant while Chhoti Bahu was the 'pride' of a family- still despite all odds and class differences, both of them had a very pure relation of friendship.

Abdur Rehman and Mini in Kabuliwala

This classic of Bimal Roy saw a very unlikely and innocent friendship between a small girl Mini and a dry fruit vendor Abdur Rehman.

Dr Bhaskar and Anand in Anand

The coming of the age film, was bold and progressive in many ways. The film talked about homosexuality (though in a very stereotypical way)and a very casual take on relationship. The film ends up with the Neha choosing her two friends over her love interest, thus a making this trio very unlikely.

This unlikely friendship between a human and an alien was unique and entertaining, in both the movies.

The friendship between a bold and confident Veronica and traditional and coy Meera was unlikely in many ways. Two different worlds become one when the two meet and a bond of love and respect is developed between them, despite all odds.

Manu and Pappiji in Tanu Weds Manu

A London- returned guy head over heels in love with a woman (R Madhavan) and a typical Delhi friend (Deepak Dobriyal) advising and supporting him at every step. Despite coming from two very different world and mindset the bond between the two was thicker than blood.

Angie and Fredie in Finding Fanny

A young widow (Deeppika Padukone) inspires her 60 year old friend Fredie (Naseeruddin Shah) to confess his love for 'Fanny' after the duo found out that Fanny never get to know Fredie's love for her. This innocent and inspiring friendship between the two characters was cute and very unlikely.

Piku and Rana in PIKU

The film that redifined the traditional relationships in every form. Other than a different father-daughter equation, the so called 'love-interest' in the film was a very open to interpretation one. Piku and Rana were realistic, matured individuals who knew what they wanted in life. Coming from a very different worlds, they found solace in each other, which we would term as a very unusual friendship in terms of usual Bollywood relationships.

Raani and Vijaylakshmi in Queen

What are the odds of finding a soulmate in a foreign land with alien culture? When Rani goes for her solo trip to Paris and meets the bold, outgoing and kind-hearted Vijay Lakshmi who teaches her the nuances of life in her own way. This recent blockbuster redefined the relationship between India and Pakistan in a very innocent andchild-like manner. The chemisty between Pawan (Salman Khan) and Nawab Chand (Nawazzudin Siddiqi) is very unlikely yet lovable.
