On the morning of October 1, 2024, Govinda accidentally injured himself when his revolver discharged while he was handling it. The incident took place around 4:45 AM as the actor, who is also a Shiv Sena leader, was checking the weapon before leaving town. Currently, Govinda is recovering at Criticare Hospital in Mumbai. His daughter, Tina Ahuja, shared a health update, noting that he is on the mend and requested that fans and the media continue to keep him in their prayers.
Tina Ahuja said, “Papa’s getting better, god has been kind. Aap sab log please unhe apne prayers me continuously rakhiye. Sab kuch theek hai abhi ICU se he has come back to the normal ward and everything is good and now he is healthy and happy.” (Dad is getting better; God has been kind. In the aftermath of the incident, Govinda sent a voice note to his fans and the media, reassuring them of his well-being. He expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, explaining that while he had been shot, the bullet had been successfully removed, and he attributed his recovery to the blessings of his parents and guru.
The Juhu Police have since questioned Govinda regarding the accidental shooting. The actor reportedly told police that the revolver, which is over 20 years old, was unlocked when he was cleaning it, leading to a misfire. While initial findings from the police suggest no foul play, they remain uncertain about some aspects of Govinda’s account and may call him back for further questioning.
Additionally, Tina Ahuja has also been interviewed by the police, and her statement has been recorded as part of the ongoing investigation.
Govinda is expected to be discharged from the hospital later this week, with several Bollywood stars, including Raveena Tandon, David Dhawan, and Shatrughan Sinha, visiting him during his recovery.
