The Fast and the Furious fans are eagerly anticipating the release of the eleventh and the last film of the sports action franchise. The film dubbed, Fast X Part 2, faced delays due to last year’s SAG-AFTRA strikes. However, it is now expected to be released in cinemas on April 4, 2025. Vin Diesel, who is the lead actor and the producer of the upcoming film, recently shared an update about the film on his Instagram. The veteran actor shared a photo from the race tracks and wrote, “To be back on the track training, where we filmed our emotional flashbacks in 2019. Surreal. Grateful and blessed.”

His post insinuated that the shooting for Fast X Part 2 is on and he is undergoing track practice for the same. This post got over 1.2 million likes since it was shared on May 23. The first Fast and Furious film was released over two decades ago in June 2001. The movie soon earned a cult following and expanded into video games, TV shows and even theme park attractions. After over 10 films, the filmmakers announced that the 11th film would be the last of the franchise.
Back in February, Vin Diesel shared a post about the Fast X Part 2 preparation. In his post, he wrote about concluding the meeting with the film’s writers and the whole team. He also thanked fans for their sustained interest in the franchise. The 56-year-old actor expressed his gratitude towards the fans and wrote, “Thank you for being the backbone of this global saga that, because of you, transcends the screen. This grand finale is not just an ending; it’s a celebration of the incredible family we’ve built together.”

Despite creating much buzz, the plot details of Fast X Part 2 remain unclear. Last year, director Louis Leterrier told The Hollywood Reporter, “Going back to every other franchise in the world, except for Lord of the Rings, where they had the books and knew when they needed to stop — you don’t work on the next movie. You can have high hopes for what’s to come, but you should work and give your best to the one movie that you’re working on. So I will give my best to Part 11 or Part B, and we shall see what happens.”
In recent years, there has been chatter about a female-led spin-off of Fast and Furious. In a 2022 interview with Business Insider, Universal Pictures film chief Donna Langley said, “I would love to see a female Fast, and so would Vin Diesel. We have so many great and amazing female characters in our franchise and now there’s the new addition of Brie Larson to add to the incredible roster.”
