How Rajesh Roshan Made Amitabh Bachchan Sing Mere Paas Aao Mere Dosto
Bollywood music director Rajesh Roshan was born on May 24, 1955, in Mumbai.

Rajesh Roshan, the son of a famous musician Roshanlal Nagrath, made a mark in the music industry. Since childhood, he had a passion for music and thus made a career in it. Hailing from a family having roots in the music realm, Rajesh Roshan was born on May 24, 1955, in Mumbai. His brother Rakesh Roshan was a renowned actor and now a filmmaker.

His father was a celebrated music director, and his mother was a talented singer. For this reason, he developed a love for music from an early age. Tragedy struck when he was 12 years old, his father passed away. It was the turning point of Rakesh’s career. Rakesh then started working as an assistant in the Hindi cinema.

After the demise of his husband, Rajesh’s mother sought the guidance of musician Faiyaz Ahmed. Rajesh then started her journey under the mentorship of Faiyaz Ahmed. It shaped his path towards becoming the accomplished music director he is today.

There was a time when RD Burman and Laxmikant-Pyarelal were big names in the industry. Rajesh Roshan asked Bakshi to help him land a gig with Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

The musician then made history with his debut film – Kunwara Baap. His other film, Julie, also gained widespread recognition from the audience, setting a new record. Right from his first film, he showcased his musical prowess. Every song from Julie became a hit such as Dil Kya Kare Jab Kisi Ko Kisi Se Pyar Ho Jaye, My Heart is Beating and Julie I Love You.

After his success with Julie, Rajesh Roshan continued to deliver outstanding music in several films such as Swami, Desh-Pradesh, Kaala Patthar, Mr Natwarlal, Khoonbhari Maang, Karan Arjun and Koi Mil Gaya, impressing audiences with his work. Interestingly, not many know that Rajesh Roshan played a role in Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan’s singing debut. Roshan was the musician who gave Bachchan his first opportunity to sing in a film.

Amitabh Bachchan, known for his acting prowess, is also celebrated as a talented singer. While he’s lent his voice to numerous songs in films, his first singing stint was in the movie Mr Natwarlal released in 1979. Rajesh Roshan allowed him to sing his debut song, Mere paas aao mere dosto.

When Rajesh Roshan joined forces with Laxmikant-Pyarelal, he landed his first big opportunity in the movie Kunwara Baap. He composed the music for the song Saj Rahi Gali in this film.

Now, Rajesh Roshan’s daughter, Pashmina Roshan, is soon going to begin her Bollywood career. She’ll be starring in Ishq Vishk Rebound, releasing on June 28.
