British Actor, Filmmaker Also Slam Apple’s New Ad

Before Hrithik, British actor Hugh Grant also called out Apple for its ad and wrote, “The destruction of the human experience. Courtesy of Silicon Valley.”

Not just Grant but British filmmaker Asif also slammed the commercial and wrote, “Like iPads but don’t know why anyone thought this ad was a good idea. It is the most honest metaphor for what tech companies do to the arts, to artists musicians, creators, writers, filmmakers: squeeze them, use them, not pay well, take everything then say it’s all created by them.”

What Is Apple’s New Controversial iPhone Ad?

Earlier this month, Apple CEO Tim Cook launched a new advertisement called ‘Crush’. The commercial video showed a towering hydraulic crushing several items including musical instruments, sculptures, speakers, books, paint cans and gaming consoles among others.

“Meet the new iPad Pro: the thinnest product we’ve ever created, the most advanced display we’ve ever produced, with the incredible power of the M4 chip. Just imagine all the things it’ll be used to create,” Tim Cook wrote while sharing the advertisement on his X (formerly known as Twitter) handle.

Although the idea of the company was to show that the new iPhone is the most powerful and the thinnest, it did not go down well with the audience. Many accused Apple of disrespecting other instruments. Others expressed disappointment with the “symbolism of crushing” in the ad. After the backlash the company faced, Apple decided not to run its new commercial on television.
