The filming of Ibrahim Ali Khan’s eagerly awaited sports drama Diler has hit a snag. Producer Dinesh Vijan has cancelled the UK shoot due to unrest in London. Director Kunal Deshmukh’s original plan for an extended UK schedule has been scrapped. The team is now looking for Mumbai locations that can replicate the UK setting to keep everyone safe, as per Mid Day.
“In July-end, the team did recce and look tests in London. Kunal had lined up a straight schedule during which significant portions of the film would have been canned. But after the situation worsened, the makers felt it would be very expensive to hire exhaustive security,” a source was quoted as saying.
The insider revealed that the producer prioritised the safety of his team. “So, he scrapped the London leg and instructed his team to consider domestic locations. The director intends to kick off the latest leg in the first week of September,” said the source.
Besides Diler, Ibrahim Ali Khan will also make his debut in Sarzameen, where he stars alongside Kajol and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Directed by Kayoze Irani, the son of actor Boman Irani, Sarzameen marks Kayoze’s first feature film as a director. He previously appeared in Karan Johar’s 2012 film Student of the Year and made his directorial debut with a short film in the 2021 Netflix anthology Ajeeb Daastaans. If reports are to be believed, Ibrahim will also star in a rom-com under Dharma Productions titled ‘Naadaniyaan’, co-starring Khushi Kapoor. It’s being directed by first-time director Shauna Gautam.
In an interview with Variety, Kajol spoke about Sarzameen for the first time. She will be seen with Prithviraj and Ibrahim Ali Khan. “I’ve worked with Prithviraj [Sukumaran] for the first time and he’s absolutely wonderful to work with and so was Ibrahim [Ali Khan], so I think it’s going to be quite interesting to see both of them on screen,” Kajol said.
