Jamie Foxx Breaks Silence On His Mysterious Illness: 'I Was Gone For 20 Days'

The multitalent actor-comedian-singer Jamie Fox has remained tight-lipped about details of his health emergency that occurred last year. However, he was recently seen talking about what led to his hospitalisation to a group of people at an outdoor café in Phoenix, USA. The Collateral star was admitted to hospital in April 2023, after which he spent the rest of the year recovering.

In a now-viral video, he tells people that last year on April 11 he had a bad headache and he asked someone to get him an Advil. He then snaps his fingers and says, “I was gone for 20 days. I don’t remember anything." His sister and his daughter took him to a doctor and he was given a cortisone shot, a steroid injection to reduce inflammation and pain. The doctor later told him that “something going on up there" as he pointed to his head. The Oscar-winning star then refused to reveal his exact diagnosis on camera and said, “I won’t say it on camera."

The news of Jamie Foxx’s undisclosed medical condition fueled several rumours, despite statements by his family members assuring the fans that he was alright. To put an end to these speculations, Jamie Foxx posted an Instagram video last July.

The record producer said, “I know a lot of people were waiting or wanted to hear updates, but to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that, man." He added, “I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was gonna make it through."

Now that the 56-year-old star has recovered, he is preparing for the release of his upcoming film Back in Action. He will share the screen with Cameron Diaz in the action comedy film, scheduled for a Netflix release on November 15, 2024. After making his return, Jamie Fox recently joined his daughter Corinne Foxx as they co-hosted season 7 of the musical game show Beat Show. He was last seen in Not Another Church Movie which was released on May 10 this year.
