Jr NTR and Alia Bhatt might be busy with their individual projects, but nothing has changed between these two old friends. The duo are currently engaged with the promotions of their upcoming films, including Alia’s Jigra and NTR’s Devara: Part 1. In a special collaboration, Devara Ka Jigra, the former co-stars came together for a candid conversation with Karan Johar and opened up about their friendship and other thoughts ahead of their releases.
Karan Johar shared a video of their conversation on Instagram, giving a glimpse of their bonding both on and off-screen. In the interview, the RRR star spoke warmly about Alia, expressing his deep admiration for her and their friendship. He also reflected on Alia Bhatt being his only good friend in Mumbai. “I can’t imagine any other friend in Bombay other than Alia… And of course, after Alia came Ranbir. So it wasn’t Ranbir and me who were friends, but it was me and Alia; it was after her that he followed,” Jr NTR said.
They even went on to have fun banter over the titles of their films, discussing who announced the title first.
During this conversation, Alia Bhatt even revealed the time when she and her husband Ranbir Kapoor decided their daughter’s name at Jr NTR’s Hyderabad home.
“That was the first time we actually discussed possible baby names in front of everyone else. Ranbir said, ‘If it’s a girl, it’ll be this. If it’s a boy, it’ll be this,” Alia said, to which NTR added, “I started praying, I wish it was Raha. And finally, there she is.”
Alia Bhatt and Jr NTR have worked together in SS Rajamouli’s 2022 blockbuster historical epic, RRR. Presently, Alia is gearing up for the release of her next Jigra. Directed by Vasan Bala, the film also features Vedang Raina in the role of her brother. The film is slated for release on October 11, 2024. On the other hand, Devara: Part 1 brings Jr NTR along with Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. The Koratala Siva directorial will hit theatres on September 27.
