Kalki 2898 AD Trailer: The trailer of Kalki 2898 AD has finally released and it promises to be as grand as one could imagine. Director Nag Ashwin finally sheds light on Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani’s characters in the film. The trailer revealed Ashwin loosely reimagined Mahabharat from a futuristic lens, adding a dystopian touch to it.
The trailer opened with fans learning about Kaashi, a distant land on top of a mountain that has all the amenities — food, water and shelter. People from far-off lands are struggling to make their way to the top, in the hope of getting aide from the King there, played by Saswata Chatterjee. With him being the only ruler, everyone has to bow down to him.
However, we slowly learn that there is a child in the making who could overturn his rulership and pave the way for a new Yug. The trailer then introduces us to Deepika Padukone. She is said to be carrying a child that is going to change the future. She is seen sporting a baby bump. Presuming that the King of Kailash is aware of the threat, he sets a bounty on Deepika’s character.
Prabhas’ Bhairava is shown to be as the most successful hunter. He flaunts his unbeatable track record and notes that it is only he who can bring the soon-to-be mother. But little is he aware that Amitabh Bachchan’s Ashwatthama is here to help Deepika’s character. Will he save her or will Prabhas’ Bhairava get to her first? Only the film will tell. As the trailer closes, Nag Ashwin gives fans a tease of Kamal Haasan from the film.

That doesn’t really affect me, but it’s a good feeling to think that people around the country like me now."
Previously, Nag Ashwin opened up about the timeline of the film. At the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon, Nag Ashwin revealed that the film’s timeline will commence with Mahabharat. He stated, “The film starts with Mahabharat and ends in 2898 AD. It spans 6000 years in time. We tried to create worlds, imagining what they would be like while still keeping it Indian, and not making it look like Blade Runner.
