Kangana Ranaut has been waiting for her film Emergency to release but it is getting delayed for some reasons. Initially, it was set for release on September 6, but controversies have placed the film’s future in question. Well, the actress has recently spoken about the same and mentioned that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) should take responsibility for its release.
Kangana was quoted saying, “The way I have made the film, I got no support from the film industry. I am the producer of the film along with other partners. Delay release is a loss for all… I think the censor board should take the responsibility to release this film at the earliest.” Kangana Ranaut had earlier slammed Bollywood for not discussing her talking about her film Emergency. In an episode of The Bombay Journey with Mashable India, the actor expressed frustration over the industry’s silence about it.
Instead, Kangana talked about working with Anupam Kher and Shreyas Talpade in Emergency, praising their kindness. She compared them with others in the film industry, saying that they are venomous. “Ye log jo hai bilkul zeherile, envious hain. Lekin Anupam Ji, Shreyas ko dekhiye. Unko ap bulaiye vinamrata se wo ayenge! Kabhi bhi ye nahi he ki nahi ayenge. Maine aaj aisi koi bhi film aisi nhi he jiski maine tareef nahi ki jo kabiliye tareef ho. Woh chahe kisi ki bhi ho (These people are completely toxic and envious. But look at Anupam Ji and Shreyas. Invite them respectfully, and they will come! It’s never the case that they won’t come. I’ve never seen a film that I haven’t praised if it deserves it, no matter who made it).”
Kangana Ranaut is not only starring in Emergency but also directing the highly anticipated political drama. The film features an ensemble cast, including Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhry, and Shreyas Talpade. Shreyas Talpade takes on the role of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, while Anupam Kher portrays political leader Jayaprakash Narayan. The late Satish Kaushik will also make an appearance as former Deputy Prime Minister Jagjivan Ram.
Despite the star-studded lineup and the film’s historical significance, Emergency has faced several calls for a boycott. Sikh organizations, including the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the Akal Takht, have raised concerns, alleging that the film portrays the Sikh community in a negative light. They have demanded an immediate ban, accusing the film of attempting to “character assassinate” Sikhs by pushing a biased narrative.
