The Malayalam romantic superhit Premalu has completed 50 days of its theatrical release. The film continues to make and break records surpassing expectations. It is currently one of the most successful releases from the Malayalam cinema, getting recognition worldwide.
Officially released on February 9, the romantic-comedy Premalu crossed 50 days in theatres across the state of Kerala, yesterday March 29. As per reports, it was released in around 140 theatres across the state, that number has now gone up to 144, after its 50th day in the theatres.
One of the producers of the film, notable Malayalam cinema actor Fahadh Faasil, took to his official Facebook account to celebrate the new achievement. Sharing a colourful image of the cast, Fahadh wrote, “Premalu @ 50 days! cheers to laughter, love, and heartwarming memories! The crew that slays together, stays together! In theatres near you."
Not only in the Malayalam language, Premalu proved to be a huge success in the Telugu and Tamil languages as well. The Tamil release rights of the film are acquired by Red Giant Movies, which is owned by actor turned politician, Udhayanidhi Stalin. The Telugu rights of the film are acquired by Showing Business, which is owned by SS Karthikeya, son of filmmaker S S Rajamouli. The Tamil version of Premalu was released on March 15 and the Telugu version came out on March 8.
Helmed by Girish AD, Premalu includes Naslen K Gafoor and Mamitha Baiju as the leads. They are supported by an ensemble of Sangeeth Prathap, Shyam Mohan M, Meenakshi Raveendran, Akhila Bhargavan, Althaf Salim and Mathew Thomas, who appeared in a cameo role. It is produced by Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh Pothan and Syam Pushkaran under the banners of Bhavana Studios, Fahadh Faasil and Friends and Working Class Hero. The music in the film is composed by Vishnu Vijay. The film is currently the fourth highest-grossing Malayalam film ever, with a collection of Rs 130 crore at the box office so far.
