Kolkata: Popular Bengali televison actor Bikram Chatterjee's car met with an accident on wee hours of Saturday. During the accident, model-anchor Sonika Chauhan, who hosts a show on NDTV Prime, was present in the car. Sonika died on the spot.
According to sources, Bikram himself was driving a white Toyota (WB12C9755) when he lost control at Rashbehari avenue. The car crashed into the divider on the road and turned topsy-turvy.
Both were rushed to a private hospital soon after the locals recovered them from the accident spot. Sonika was declared dead on the spot while a severely injured Bikram is currently in ICU.
If source is to be believed, Bikram was driving at a high speed and the air bags of the car did not work properly when the vehicle met with the accident. The police is currently checking the CCTV footage of the area to find more clues.
