Mohit Chauhan Wins Big at Daf Bama Music Awards 2016

Following an incredible phase in Bollywood, singer Mohit Chauhan has another reason to be elated and content in life. The phenomenal singer has bagged his international awards – for the first time in his life. And interestingly, he has picked both - Best Indian Male Act and the Best Male Act International - at Daf Bama Music Awards 2016 at Hamburg, Germany.

Sounding upbeat about his recent big win, the singer spoke exclusively to News18.com about the significance of his recent win, the global recognition of Indian music and his plans to take up acting. "Daf Bama Music Awards are really tough. What makes it interesting is that it witnesses participation from people across the world – who vote for the most deserving artistes. And these artistes come from various regions such as Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Iran, etc. I’m happy to have received these awards – the first in my life."

Mohit, who has achieved enormous adulation and success when majority of the singers experience a downhill in their careers, tells us how the Daf Bama Music Awards emerged a platform where music was most rightfully referred to as the universal language of mankind.

Just the way music touches people’s hearts, the Bama Music Awards “transcended boundaries. The different artistes from across the globe who were present had their own music. This was an event which made me realize how my music reached out to a huge audience. It was interesting to see that majority of the people I interacted with had heard my music, and not just my film music."

As Mohit says, the internet has opened up numerous possibilities, and also allows one to experiment and let their creativity run wild. “Agreed, Bollywood has a strong presence, courtesy the number of songs that are churned out and the huge budget of big films. But now, it isn’t just about Bollywood music. Different genres such as Sufi, folk and fusion are emerging strong. In fact, in Asia, non-film music has always been strong. Solo artistes also continue to work in a band. Internet continues to push music to different audiences." So is this the best phase for music? “These days, one song can connect to millions of people. Anytime is a good time for music."
