With the evolution of modern cinema, today’s audiences crave movies with unique storylines over star power. Preminchoddu, a forthcoming film, embodies this trend, captivating fans with its announcement of the release date.
Directed and produced by renowned filmmaker Shirin Sriram, Preminchoddu promises a compelling narrative centred around youthful love within a slum-like backdrop. With production recently wrapped up, the film is slated to grace theatres on June 7th. Notably, it will be released not only in Telugu but also in five other languages: Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
The storyline follows Lalasa, a teenage girl navigating life in the confines of a slum. As a Polytechnic student, Lalasa’s exposure to the outside world is limited. However, her journey unfolds as she becomes entangled with two older men, Kamal and Saaras, leading to a series of eye-opening experiences that distinguish between love and infatuation.
Director Shirin Sriram emphasized the film’s relevance, stating, “Many young people mistakenly confuse love with attraction, leading to complications in their lives. Preminchoddu draws from real-life incidents and serves as a Pan-India film." The aim is to shed light on this societal issue and prompt reflection.
The cast includes Sarika in the pivotal role of Lalasa, with Devaa Malishetty and Anurup Reddy portraying Saaras and Kamal, respectively. Additionally, Manasa Eddla, Yaswanth Pendyala, and Sonali Garje among others enrich the ensemble. Shirin Sriram not only directed and produced the film but also contributed to the screenplay, with Rahul Raj Vanam assisting.
Preminchoddu embodies the essence of contemporary storytelling, focusing on substance rather than star power. With its multi-lingual release and socially relevant narrative, the film is poised to captivate audiences across diverse demographics. As anticipation builds for its theatrical debut on June 7th, Preminchoddu might portray the power of storytelling in modern cinema.
