With Ready Player One, Steven Spielberg brings to celluloid the cinematic adaptation of the 2011 science-fiction novel by Ernest Cline. The makers decided to treat fans by unveiling the film's trailer as part of an event at Comic Con in San Diego.
The film is set in 2045 when the world is on the brink of collapse and there's nowhere left to go. The society seems hooked on Oasis, a magnificent virtual-reality experience. Wade Watts, a gamer based in Ohio, is on a quest to track down the Easter eggs in a series of games. With an enriched VFX, an intriguing mission and Brad Bird’s The Iron Giant in play, the film's trailer comes across as an ambitious attempt.
The film, starring Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Mark Rylance, Simon Pegg, and T. J. Miller, is scheduled for a March, 2018 release.
