It’s no secret that Shah Rukh Khan thrives on caffeine, especially since he’s known for his late-night work sessions! Tata Starbucks CEO Sushant Dash recently revealed that the Khar outlet of Starbucks, located in the Red Chillies Entertainment office, opened largely thanks to SRK’s passion for the brand. Situated on 15th Road, this Starbucks has become a popular meeting spot in the busy Bandra-Khar area.
In a fun chat on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Sushant shared how the outlet came to be. “He is a big fan, that’s what I have heard. He wanted a store at the building, where he had that space. It’s a beautiful store and that’s his place, he is the landlord. Someone from his office had approached, saying that he is very keen, would you guys be interested. It worked out and it is a lovely space,” he added.
Over the years, many of those who have worked with Shah Rukh Khan have shared their thoughts on his coffee obsession. Filmmaker Aanand L Rai jokingly mentioned that the actor could live on tandoori chicken and coffee alone. Other stars, including Tamannah Bhatia, Jawan actor Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, and Alia Bhatt, have also commented on his love for coffee.
Alia Bhatt, who worked with Shah Rukh Khan in Dear Zindagi, shared a funny story about him. She mentioned that while she doesn’t dislike anything about him, she feels bad that he doesn’t eat much. On set, it was often quiet, and during intense scenes, she once heard a growl from his stomach. “We used to have heavy scenes and long takes and lots of dialogues and we used to run through the whole scene. Suddenly in between, I could hear a growl, and I could sense that it was coming from his (SRK) stomach. Then we used to give him biscuits. He drinks a lot of coffee. I also drink coffee but I also have my food. So I used to feel bad about that and I used to tell him that he should eat,” she had said.
