Substance Abuse, Bad Parenting, Affair: The Possible Reasons Behind Brangelina Split

It’s like an end of an era. After 10 years of being together and two years of marriage, one of Hollywood’s most popular couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have decided to part ways. Popularly known as Brangelina, the couple met on the sets of Mr and Mrs Smith in 2003. Pitt was at that time married to Friends actress Jennifer Aniston when sparks flew between Jolie and him.

By the time Pitt and Aniston officially divorced, it was a known fact that Pitt was in a relationship with Jolie even though the couple took time to confirm the news to the world. From rearing six kids (three of which are biologically their own) to enduring Jolie’s illness and eventual preventive double mastectomy, the couple have seen it all in their 12 years long relationship. So what went wrong? While Jolie’s representative has stated to TMZ that the actress was not happy with Pitt’s way of parenting and his temper issues, there are other theories that are also doing the rounds.

Pitt is heavily into substance abuse which Jolie feared was having a negative impact on the kids. Meanwhile, according to Page Six, Jolie got a whiff of Pitt’s affair with French actress Marion Cotillard. The duo met while filming World War II drama Allied in London and hit it off instantly.

“She hired a private eye because she felt that he was fooling around with her on the set, and it turns out, he was. And that was the final straw,’’ the source told the newspaper.

The PI discovered that Pitt was cheating on his wife of two years with Cotillard — while also partying like a single guy on a mission, the source added.

While the news remains unconfirmed, the source stated that Jolie was tired of Pitt’s way of living. After pack-up, the sets was “ full of hard drugs and Russian hookers, and Angie was told Brad got caught up in it,’’ the source said.

Interestingly, another source close to the French actress has denied Cotillard’s involvement in the breakup stating that the actress is still in a relationship with French director Guillaume Canet with whom she has a son.
