Rachel Brosnahan will be returning to our screens as budding stand-up comic Midge in not one, but two, further installments of award-winning show The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
The show was named the year's best comedy at January's 2018 Golden Globes, ahead of Black-ish and Will & Grace, and its future is assured until 2020 at the least.
Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls), it tells the story of a housewife who launches a career in stand-up comedy as her marriage is dissolving. Even though season two is not expected until the end of the year, Amazon has already given the green light to develop and produce a third run.
Having followed her turn as upwardly-mobile escort Rachel Posner in political drama House of Cards, Brosnahan played a key character in 1940s atomic science story Manhattan before picking up the lead in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
She won the 2018 Globes' Best Actress award for musical or comedy. Both the Directors Guild and Producers Guild of America also recognized the show's achievements with their 2018 television comedy awards.
