The trailer of Vijay Sethupathi’s much-anticipated film Maharaja, which will be his 50th film, will soon be available for his fans. The thrilling new poster of Maharaja, starring Sethupathi, was released by the makers on their social media site X along with the caption, “The wait is almost over. Get ready to witness the world of Maharaja from tomorrow 5 PM.” Sethupathi also posted the movie poster with the same description on his social media.
A severely stitched-up Vijay Sethupathi is shown in the poster where he is seen holding a razor while seated in a salon chair.
Nithilan Saminathan, who is well-known for his work in Kurangu Bommai (2017), is directing the movie. Passion Studios and Jagadish Palanisamy are funding Maharaja together under the The Route banner.
Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas and Natarajan Subramaniam are among the supporting cast members of the movie, and it is expected that Anurag Kashyap will play a negative role.
Maharaja is Anurag Kashyap’s third Tamil film. He previously had a prominent role in the 2018 film Imaikaa Nodigal and a brief appearance in the hugely popular film Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Maharaja’s soundtrack was composed by Ajanesh Lokhnath, and its cinematographer is Dinesh Purushothaman.
The film has finished production and is in the post-production phase.
Maharaja is expected to be released concurrently in Tamil and Telugu, despite not having a confirmed release date. Maharaja touted as an action drama, has been acquired by Netflix for post-theatrical distribution.
Vijay Sethupathi, meanwhile, last appeared in Sriram Raghavan’s Merry Christmas. The thriller, which starred Katrina Kaif opposite him, hit cinemas on January 12. The narrative centres on two strangers who meet by chance on Christmas Eve, but a romantic evening soon turns into a crime scene.
The actor had just finished shooting Ace, a movie in which Rukmini Vasanth co-starred. Vijay Sethupathi has several ongoing projects, such as the highly-anticipated Viduthalai—Part 2 starring Vetrimaaran and Soori.
