There's A Lot More To Haryana Than Crime: Randeep Hooda
Randeep Hooda talks about his health, film 'Laal Rang'.

There are multiple reasons why actors change their diet and exercise routine. Maybe their work hours aren’t the same anymore, or maybe they don’t have enough time. But when actor Randeep Hooda collapsed on the sets of his forthcoming film 'Sultan', it hinted at something intimidating. The actor who followed a sever attack of appendicitis, had to undergo a surgery at Fortis Hospital recently – an incident that showed how his body reacted when he underwent drastic weight change.

The actor, who will soon be seen in ‘Laal Rang’ spoke about the need to shoulder his responsibilities as an actor despite his medical condition. “I had to undergo an appendicitis operation which I have been ignoring. I thought I would find time and get it done, but it just couldn’t happen and it came to point where it had to be operated immediately. The operation went well and the doctor discharged me this morning. I feel a sense of responsibility and lot of love for my work. I feel I’m responsible for the director, the technicians who have made such a wonderful film – ‘Laal Rang’. I feel it is my duty to spread the word so that people know about it and feel curious about the wonderfully entertaining film called ‘Laal Rang’."

‘Laal Rang’, a bromance which derives its inspiration from on true events that happened between 2002 and 2007, is a interesting expose that puts forth the illicit blood trade prevalent in some parts of India. “There is a drought-affected village in Maharashtra about which I read in the papers. And everybody in the village sell blood to make ends meet. But nobody knows who they are selling this blood to?"

Since Haryana has made headlines for all wrong reasons such as depleting male-female ratio, khap panchayat, honour killing, increase in crime against woman, filmmakers’ attraction towards the state is understandable. But there is more to the state than just crime. And as Randeep says, it has a lot to do with the sense of humour.

“This movie is based on true incidents that happened in Karnal. But this doesn’t mean it only happens in Haryana. Since the story is based in Haryana, we have been able to tell the story with a great sense of humor. Their attitude, bluntness, the way they deal with situation – all of it in a light hearted manner will make ‘Laal Rang an interesting watch."
