Govinda is known for his dancing and comic timing in Bollywood films. He was a superstar in the 90s. Years back, he shared a heartbreaking story of his life. Even though he is no longer a regular on the big screen, Govinda remains in the news. In a 2014 interview, Govinda revealed that he has seen the death of 11 members of his family. This period of his life was extremely challenging and took a heavy emotional toll on him. He said, “I saw the death of 11 members of my family. I have also seen my daughter pass away from this world.” His daughter was just four months old when she died. Govinda’s struggles did not end there. He also lost his parents, two brothers, a sister and her husband. With so many losses, Govinda took on the responsibility of raising his sister’s children. He said that the emotional and financial pressure was overwhelming.
Despite these difficulties, Govinda now has two children who bring joy to his life. His son, Yashvardhan, is preparing to make his debut in the film industry. His daughter, Narmada, changed her name to Tina Ahuja and has also pursued a career in acting. Govinda’s family has strong ties to the entertainment industry. His niece, Aarti Singh, is a popular TV actress, and his nephew, Krishna Abhishek, is a well-known comedian. Another niece, Ragini Khanna, is also a TV actress.
Govinda also discussed how his busy work schedule affected his health. During the peak of his career, he often fell ill on set and once went 16 days without sleep because of his hectic shooting schedule. Despite these challenges, Govinda remained committed to his work.
Govinda made his Bollywood debut in 1986 with the film Love 86. He quickly rose to fame with hits like Ilzaam, Sada Suhagan, Dadagiri, Do Qaidi, Pyaar Karke Dekho, and Khudgarz. In the 1990s, he became an icon in comedy through his successful collaborations with director David Dhawan. Govinda was last seen in the 2019 film Rangeela Raja.
