Mumbai ka bhai kaun – Rohit-Rohit

The chants echoed in the team hotel’s lobby when Rohit Sharma & Co arrived there on Wednesday night. They had returned from the Wankhede Stadium where they defeated New Zealand, making it to the 4th final in the ODI World Cup history.

Team India produced a stellar all-round show in the semi-finals. The top four batters – Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer – fired all cylinders as the men in blue posted 397 in 50 over after opting to bat first. In reply, Shami single-handedly robed the Kiwis, registering the best-ever bowling figures for India in ODIs – 7 for 57 in 9.5 overs.

The Indian dressing was full of energy after the victory. Kohli, who shattered Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most ODI hundreds, hugged and greeted almost every teammate, including captain Rohit Sharma. Ashwin kissed the hands of Shami to congratulate him for achieving a remarkable milestone.

Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal, who witnessed the game from the stands, visited the dressing room and greeted the likes of Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah.

The BCCI captured the emotions on camera and the video was shared on its official Instagram handle.

“Raw emotions & pure joy post a special win at Wankhede. Thank you to all the fans for the unwavering support,” the caption read.

The pressure was on us – Rohit

India captain Rohit Sharma was candid enough to admit that the team felt a few strands of pressure going into the World Cup semifinal here on Wednesday.

“This being the semifinal, I won’t say there was no pressure and the semifinal adds a bit extra (pressure). But we don’t want to think too much about it, and just do what we’ve been doing like in the first nine games,” said Rohit during the post-match presentation.

“We knew there would be pressure on us. We were very calm, even though we were a bit sloppy on the field. These things are bound to happen but glad we could get the job done,” he added.
