‘Hai Taiyaar Hum’: Congress to Sound Lok Sabha Poll Bugle from Nagpur on Its Foundation Day on Dec 28
Maharashtra Congress’ rally at Dighori Naka area near Nagpur city will see more than 1 lakh party workers. Congress top brass, including Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will be also present

The Congress is set to kick off its campaign for the next year’s Lok Sabha elections from Nagpur, Maharashtra, on the party’s foundation day on December 28. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia, Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and other top leaders will be present at the event.

The Maharashtra Congress has organised a rally at the Dighori Naka area near Nagpur city where more than one lakh workers are expected to come. Interestingly, the party has named the venue as ‘Bharat Jodo Maidan’, where workers and leaders will be seen sloganeering – ‘Hain Taiyaar Hum’.

Speaking to the media in Nagpur on Monday, Congress state president Nana Patole said, “In December 1920, Mahatma Gandhi raised the slogan of a non-cooperation movement against the tyrannical British rule in Nagpur. Ultimately, the British had to flee from India in 1947. Nagpur is the central place of many movements and revolutions in the country. In 1959, Indira Gandhi was declared the national president of Nagpur itself. Celebrating the 138th Foundation Day of Congress in Nagpur city with such a historical background is a matter of pride for the state unit of the Congress”.

He stressed that democracy and the Constitution are getting “destroyed” today. “The BJP government has established an autocratic system in the country. The problems of inflation, unemployment and farmers and labourers have become serious. It is the responsibility of the Congress to end this tyrannical system created by the BJP government and create a corruption and tyranny-free India. To save democracy and the Constitution, the party has created slogans like ‘Hain Taiyaar Hum’.

While answering the question on EVMs, Patole said the Election Commission of India should answer to the people who have raised doubts about the rigging of voting machines. “People feel that their vote goes to the other party. This should be considered seriously. If people demand that voting should be done on the ballot paper, then the Central government and the Election Commission should take serious cognizance of it. Earlier, while holding the post of Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi had himself opposed the EVMs,” he added.
