The Rapid Fire round on Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan is one of the most popular segments. It is not just known because of the luxurious hamper that the winner gets but also because of the controversial questions and answers that are usually made. However, Karan Johar recently revealed that he considered scrapping the segment from his celebrity reality show because “nobody wants a PR nightmare”.
During a recent press conference for his show, Karan Johar admitted that the KWK team tried finding a replacement to rapid fire round. He revealed that it is because guests on the show often get “worried” about the aftereffects of the segment.
“We kept coming back to finding a replacement to Rapid Fire and the sad thing is people are much more worried now than they were in the first few seasons. Nobody wants a PR nightmare. Everyone is so careful that you have to make sure that you change the language of Rapid Fire so that you will get something,” KJo said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
“There were times when people have answered with abandon, like most underrated and overrated, and answers were flowing. Today, I won’t answer those so how can I expect them? We all have built a sensitive climate. Social media has made us so much more sensitised with sensitivity. So, everyone is sensitive about what they are saying, what they are expected to say, fan clubs get angry, I don’t want any of that,” the filmmaker added.
Koffee With Karan season 8 premiered on October 26, 2023. In the first episode, Deepika Padukone was seen sharing the couch with her actor-husband Ranveer Singh. In the following episodes, Sunny Deol-Bobby Deol, Ananya Panday-Sara Ali Khan and Alia Bhatt-Kareena Kapoor Khan made appearances.
