A video of Pankaj Udhas' last public appearance in July 2023 has gone viral after his passing.

The legendary singer Pankaj Udhas has passed away at 72 years of age. The news of his passing was shared by his family. In a statement, they said, “With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhar on February 26, 2024, due to a prolonged illness.” The news has come as a shock to many. Amid this, a video of his last public appearance has gone viral on social media.

In the now-viral video, Pankaj Udhas could be seen at the airport, smiling and interacting with the paparazzi. He said in the video, “Thank you. See you, guys.” The video is from July last year. Have a look at the viral video here:

Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mourned the loss of the legendary singer and wrote in a post, “We mourn the loss of Pankaj Udhas Ji, whose singing conveyed a range of emotions and whose Ghazals spoke directly to the soul. He was a beacon of Indian music, whose melodies transcended generations. I recall my various interactions with him over the years. His departure leaves a void in the music world that can never be filled. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”

Pankaj Udhas was born on May 17, 1951, in Jetpur, Gujarat. He began his career by releasing a ghazal album named Aahat in 1980. Soon, he became synonymous with ghazal music in India. In Bollywood, the ghazal singer sang the iconic track Chitthi Aayee Hai, for Sanjay Dutt’s film Naam. The film was directed by Mahesh Bhatt. The song became a rage and left everyone in tears.

Meanwhile, Pankaj married his wife Farida Udhas in 1982. The couple welcomed two children, Reva Udhas and Nayaab Udhas.
