HBO’s critically acclaimed dark comedy-drama anthology series, The White Lotus, is gearing up for its third season, and the excitement continues to build with the recent addition of five actors to its cast. Walton Goggins, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sam Nivola, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Aimee Lou Wood are set to join the show, with their roles shrouded in mystery for now.
The newcomers join a star-studded cast that already includes Leslie Bibb, Jason Isaacs, Dom Hetrakul, Michelle Monaghan, Tayme Thapthimthong, Parker Posey, Miloš Biković, Morgana O’Reilly, Christian Friedel, Lek Patravadi, Carrie Coon, Shalini Peiris, and Natasha Rothwell, reprising her role from Season 1.
Production for season 3 is scheduled to commence in February, with filming locations spanning Koh Samui, Phuket and Bangkok. HBO is collaborating with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to ensure the success of the filming process and promote the season, according to the report by Variety.
Show creator, writer and director Mike White teased fans about the upcoming season, describing it as a “supersized White Lotus.” In an interview with Deadline in November, White expressed his excitement, promising a longer, bigger and crazier season.
“I don’t know what people will think, but I am super excited, so at least for my own barometer, that’s a good thing,” He added.
Walton Goggins, recognised for his role as Sonny Burch in Ant-Man and the Wasp, brings a wealth of experience to the series. Having starred in acclaimed television series like The Shield, Vice Principals and the upcoming Fallout show, Goggins is no stranger to the world of complex characters. His fellow co-star, Carrie Coon, also part of The White Lotus Season 3, currently shines in HBO’s The Gilded Age.
Patrick Schwarzenegger, the son of the iconic Arnold Schwarzenegger, is set to make his mark in The White Lotus after his role in The Boys spinoff, Gem V and HBO’s limited series, The Staircase. Aimee Lou Wood, known for her role in Netflix’s Sex Education, adds her flair to the ensemble, following the conclusion of the popular series after four successful seasons.
Sam Nivola, son of actor Alessandro Nivola, has a growing filmography with notable appearances in films like What Noise, Maestro and Eileen. Sarah Catherine Hook is known for her roles in Law & Order: SVU, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It and American Crime Story.
The White Lotus has already made a significant mark in the television space, with its first season set in Hawaii receiving critical acclaim and numerous Emmy nominations. The second season, set in Sicily, continued the success, earning 23 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series.
