635 Kilometres in 41 Days on Bullock Cart: ISKCON’s Indraprastha to Ayodhya ‘Yatra’ to Meet Ram Lalla on Jan 22
The idea is to go slow, touching villages and towns where they would spread the teachings of Lord Rama in every household

When Ram Lalla will be seated at the sanctum sanctorum of Ayodhya’s brand new Ram Mandir on January 22 next year, ISKCON will be in the holy town to welcome him.

The international body, which is at the forefront of spreading Krishna’s teachings across the world, will go on a 41-day-long journey from Indraprastha — as Delhi was originally known — to Ayodhya. The journey starts this Sunday morning (December 10) from Delhi’s Kailash Colony, where the ISKCON center is located, and will culminate on January 22 next year — the day of the grand opening of the Ram Temple at the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During these 41 days, ISKCON will complete a total of 635 kilometres and their mode of transport will be a bullock cart. The idea was to go slow, touching villages and towns where they would spread the teachings of Lord Rama in every household. Not only Indian devotees but those from other nationalities, including Russia and Mauritius, will join in this journey.

The devotees will make a stop every night to organise Sri Ram Katha. They will also sing Bhajans and after the event, distribute prasad to village residents in the name of Lord Ram.

Two key members of Modi’s Council of Ministers — Meenakshi Lekhi and Ashwini Chaubey — will formally inaugurate the yatra from South Delhi in the presence of a host of sadhus amid chants of Krishna and Ram.

“Lord Rama appeared to share with us the best way of living one’s life filled with Bhakti (devotion), seva (service) and daya (compassion). To take this message to every household, ISKCON is organising several events. In Ayodhya, from January 20 to February 26, we will serve free lunch to 5,000 pilgrims daily. A Sankirtan will be held on the streets by our Indian and international devotees and free medical camps will be set up for devotees,” said Yudhistir Govind Das, ISKCON’s India Director of Communication.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Ram Mandir Teerth Khetra shared a short video of stone carvings being installed in one of the ceilings. Work is being completed on a war footing to meet the January 22 deadline when the temple will be inaugurated. The trust said PM Modi will perform Prana Pratishtha of Shri Vigraha of Bhagwan Shri Ramlalla Sarkar in Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir on the said day.

Nearly 2,000 saints, and 5,000-6,000 guests from different walks of life will be attending the inauguration. Recently, Nripendra Misra, the temple’s construction committee chairperson, and former principal secretary to the prime minister, told News18 that nearly 1.5 lakh people are expected to visit the Ram Temple in the first few days of its inauguration.

In the Pran Pratishtha ceremony, which will take place on January 22, the deity of Ram Lalla will be installed in the sanctum sanctorum. In addition, another idol, which is presently being carved, and three different sculptures made by a professor at the Banaras University, will also be installed.
