'David Warner and Travis Head Can Destroy Any Bowler': India Legend's Warning to Jasprit Bumrah and Co Ahead of World Cup Final
Australia have won five ODI World Cups and will present India with a stern challenge in Ahmedabad.

India might have been steamrolling their opponents in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 but they cannot take Australia lightly in the summit clash this Sunday.

India batting great Gundappa Viswanath, part of 1975 and 1979 world cup squads, feels that Australia opening pair of David Warner and Travis Head can rattle any bowling attack so the hosts cannot expect a ‘cakewalk’ in Ahmedabad as they hunt for a third ODI world title.

Travis Head played his first game of the ongoing competition against New Zealand in Dharamsala and blasted a quick century right after having recovered from an injury. Opening the innings alongside the seasoned campaigner David Warner, Head added 118 runs in 10 overs.

The Indian bowling attack is well-rounded with the pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj in fine form.

The spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav has been quite impressive too.

“Australia’s batting is quite good. David Warner and Travis Head can destroy any bowler and with Mitchell Marsh, and (Steve) Smith, if Maxwell comes good, it is a balanced side. So can’t say that India can (win),” Viswanath was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

India started their world cup campaign against Australia in Chennai last month, recording a six-wicket win.

Australia recovered after suffering two defeats at the start of their campaign to bounce back with eight wins in a row and qualify for the final.

“I mean, India should win but you can’t take it for granted. It won’t be a cakewalk. If Australia gets an inch they won’t leave it, that is their hallmark. Till the last ball, they will fight. So, it is going to be one hell of a match,” Viswanath said.

“It is going to be a terrific match. India playing in India, and especially like the way they are playing in all departments, this gives a lot of hope to the fans,” he  added.

Viswanath lauded the Indian team for keeping faith in their bowling plans throughout the tournament and not get flustered when the opposition managed to string together good partnerships.

“Sometimes you lose faith when you see a big partnership of opposition but that time also they kept their head high, that’s an a terrific approach. We managed to carry on with five bowlers and never felt the need for a sixth bowler,” Viswanath said.

“Terrific approach, terrific consistency and everyone knows their job, all the batters are doing well, and bowling and captaincy are also good. So, one more game to go,” he added.
