Delhi Airport: UER 2 Expressway To Slash Travel Time to 20 Minutes, Says Nitin Gadkari
Nitin Gadkari announces the opening of UER 2 Expressway to cut Delhi-IGI Airport travel time to 20 mins, easing traffic and boosting connectivity.

In a remarkable turn of events that’s set to transform travel in the National Capital Region, Nitin Gadkari, India’s Minister of Road Transport and Highways, made a momentous announcement during his interaction with the Indian community in Prague, Czech Republic.

Gadkari announced, “The (UER 2) will bring travel time to IGI T3 airport to 20 minutes (from Kundli border in Delhi) instead of two hours. We have made another tunnel road that passes under the airstrip to T3 of IGI airport.”

Highlighting the significance of this project, he added, “While coming to Delhi, after Panipat, there is a peripheral ring road. After that, a new ring road called UER 2 has been built in Delhi. It will open in the next two to three months. After the construction of this road, you will be able to reach T3 airport directly in just 20 minutes instead of two hours. We have also built a large tunnel inside the road at the Shiv Murti junction, which connects T3 from below the airstrip.”

The UER 2 Expressway is set to be a game-changer for the region, as it’ll be India’s very first elevated urban expressway. With a hefty price tag of Rs 9,000 crore, this monumental project is on track to open to the public in December, as Gadkari previously announced in May.

UER 2 Expressway: Key Features

  • It boasts an impressive 29-kilometer stretch of elevated eight-lane access control expressway.
  • The Dwarka Expressway will implement fully automated toll collection and will be equipped with an Efficient Transport System (ITS).
  • A multi-level road network encompassing tunnels, underpasses, grade roads, elevated roads, and a flyover soaring above the rest.
  • The UER 2 Expressway will significantly improve connectivity for residents of Haryana and West Delhi with IGI Airport. It intersects crucial areas such as Pataudi Road (SH-26), Harsaru, Farukhnagar (SH-15A), Gurgaon Sector-88 (B), Bharthal, and Global City via Dwarka Sector-21 through Sectors 88, 83, 84, 99, and 113 of Gurugram.

This transformative project is set to drastically reduce the travel time from Dwarka to IGI Airport to a mere five minutes, offering immense relief to Gurugram residents.

The UER 2 Expressway is a beacon of hope for Delhi and its neighboring regions, promising a faster, more efficient transportation solution that will undoubtedly make daily commutes a breeze.
