The footage shows Virat Kohli dislodging the bails with his cap in frustration as Australian players start celebrating their title win.

The heart-wrenching moment transpired before the Indian batting icon would approach his teammates for the customary handshake.

The clip well and truly highlights the feelings of Kohli, who undoubtedly showcased his top form during the campaign but it didn’t transpire into a title.

After the clip surfaced on X, the comment section of the post was flooded with comments recalling the summit clash.

One fan still feels this Rohit Sharma-led side “deserved a World Cup.”

Another fan was quick to acknowledge, “This Indian team might be the greatest team to not win a World Cup.”

Referring to Team India’s dominance throughout the tournament, a user commented, “One bad day couldn’t tell the whole story, they played well.”

“Heartbreaking to see Kohli like that. No one in the Indian team deserved the World Cup more than him. Carried the team on numerous occasions in ICC events since 2014,” wrote a fan.

Kohli’s batting was certainly a treat during the 2023 ODI World Cup. He featured in all 11 games for India and finished the tournament as the top run-scorer and was chosen as player-of-the-tournament.

He scored a total of 765 runs including three centuries and six half-centuries.

Kohli is currently in South Africa for a two-match Test series, which also marked his maiden assignment after the World Cup.

Kohli scored a half-century in the opening Test where South Africa notched up a dominant victory by an innings and 32 runs. While most of the Indian batters surrendered early in front of the Proteas’ pace attack, Kohli scored a gritty 82 during India’s second dig.
