Arvind Kejriwal Claims L-G, PMO Masterminding Bureaucratic Rebellion in Delhi
Kejriwal claimed that over the last four months, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government ministers have made several attempts to reach out to bureaucrats and end the deadlock.

New Delhi: A day after he called on the Lieutenant Governor to ‘Quit Delhi’ as he reiterated his demand for full statehood, the tensions between Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and L-G Anil Baijal has once again heightened. On Monday, Kejriwal accused the LG, along with the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), of being the architect of a bureaucratic rebellion within the Delhi government.

“For the last four months, bureaucrats in the Delhi government have been on strike. This is the first time in the history of India that there has been such dereliction of duty and open rebellion on part of the bureaucracy. What are their demands? Even they don’t know. If you ask them, they will not be able to clearly tell you what their demands are,” Kejriwal told reporters at his residence on Monday.

He added, “Privately, these IAS officers all say they want to work. They say, sir, we are paid to work and we want to work. But their hands are tied. There is pressure on them from the PMO and from the office of the LG. Those officials who don’t work and create hurdles in the government’s work are rewarded later with the choicest of postings. Those who are seen as doing their work are punished.”

Kejriwal claimed that over the last four months, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government ministers have made several attempts to reach out to bureaucrats and end the deadlock. However, he claimed, they did not receive any help from the LG.

“Over the last four months, I and several members of the Delhi cabinet have reached out to the LG eight times, either through letters or in person, and requested him to intervene in the deadlock. He always said he would do something soon but did nothing.”
