Gadkari was addressing an election rally in Maharashtra's Latur on October 5 when he allegedly asked voters to accept bribe.
New Delhi: The Election Commission on Tuesday issued a notice to Union Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Rural Development Minister Nitin Gadkari to explain his comment wherein he allegedly says, "there will be a lot of 'Lakshmi darshan' in the coming days."
Gadkari was addressing an election rally in Maharashtra's Latur on October 5 when he allegedly asked voters to accept bribe.
Holding that the statements prima facie violated the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct, the EC asked Gadkari to reply by Wednesday evening, failing which the poll body will take a decision without further reference to the BJP leader.
