Mumbai: Shiv Sena on Thursday trained its guns on AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi for his controversial remarks and said his citizenship should be cancelled.
In an article in party mouthpiece Saamna, Sena said that the citizenship of those who refuse to say 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' like Owaisi should be cancelled. Their voting rights should be taken away.
Sena is also mounting pressure on Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and sought answer on how Owaisi got away with his comments in Latur when he said he won't chant 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' slogan.
Owaisi stirred a hornet's nest by rejecting RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's suggestions and methods to infuse patriotism in the young generation. Owaisi had said he would not chant 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' even if a knife is put to his throat.
"I don't chant that slogan. What are you going to do, Bhagwat sahab?" he had said at a rally in Udgir tehsil of Latur district in Maharashtra on February 13. "Nowhere in the Constitution it says that one should say Bharat Mata ki Jai," he had added.
