HC orders CBI probe into Chandrababu's assets
Jagan Mohan Reddy's mother filed the probe petition.

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate and Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to probe into the alleged illegal assets of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.

A bench comprising justices Ghulam Mohammed and Nooti Ramamohan Rao gave these orders on a petition filed on October 17 by YSR Congress honorary President and Pulivendula MLA YS Vijaya.

Vijaya, widow of late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, filed the petition seeking a probe by the CBI and the ED against Naidu on various counts.

"Several individuals have conspired with Chandrababu Naidu to subvert the system by causing pecuniary advantage to themselves and draining the state's exchequer. Offences of cheating, criminal breach of trust, corruption, money laundering and several others are made out against them," Vijaya prayed in the petition.

"It is in the greatest public interest that Naidu and the other private respondents be investigated at the earliest by both the CBI and the ED, as the offences are of a national and international nature, and which have ramifications across the nation," the petition said.

The court directed CBI, ED and SEBI to complete the investigation and submit reports independently within three months.

The court order came after Vijayamma, mother of Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy, filed a petition seeking a probe into Naidu's illegal assets.

The two-judge bench of Chief Justice Ghulam Mohammed and Justice Nooty Ramamohana Rao directed the agencies to investigate and submit a report within three months.

Vijayamma had filed the petition against TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu's alleged illegal assets last month.

In her petition she has alleged that many acts of criminal misconduct were committed during the regime of Naidu in Andhra Pradesh from 1995-2004.
