Modi trying to save his confidants by curbing Delhi government's powers: Kejriwal
Kejriwal said that his government is determined to end corruption adding that the Centre is afraid of the same.

New Delhi: Lashing out at the Narendra Modi government for issuing a notification granting powers of postings and transfers of officers to the Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed that posting and transfer business is big money and the Centre wants to have control over it.

Kejriwal said that his government is determined to end corruption adding that the Centre is afraid of the same. "We shut the multi-crore transfer industry that was operating in the state. All the people who have been affected by our moves to curb transfers for profits have gone to Home Minister Rajnath Singh," he said.

Citing a part of the notification which says that the anti-corruption branch police station shall not take any congnizance of offences against officers employees and functionaries of the Central government, Kejriwal claimed that there is something wrong and there are efforts to save someone.

Calling the L-G a puppet of the Prime Minister's Office, Kejriwal said his fight is not against Najeeb Jung but against corruption. "I have nothing against the L-G. I am not in a fight with him. The L-G is just a face. All the calls are made by the PMO, the L-G only follows the decisions," he said.

"BJP first lost Delhi elections. Today's notification shows BJP's nervousness about our anti-corruption efforts. BJP again lost today," Kejriwal had earlier tweeted.

The AAP has been calling the notification by the Home Ministry as unconstitutional. "This is an insult of people's mandate. This is an indication of the dictatorial attitude of the PM Modi and his Cabinet. It is unconstitutional, undemocratic," AAP leader Ashutosh said.

The Home Ministry has issued a notice to the Delhi government saying that the L-G has primacy in posting and transfers of officers which implies that the L-G can unilaterally decide on postings and transfers.
