Lucknow: Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Swami Omvesh, accused of making hate speeches in riot-hit Muzaffarnagar, has been arrested in Bijnaur. He is the fourth political to be arrested for allegedly making hate speeches leading to communal tension and riots in many district of western Uttar Pradesh.

Earlier, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Noor Salim Rana and two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs Sangeet Som and Suresh Rana were arrested for allegedly making hate speech in connection with Muzaffarnagar riots.

Arrest warrants were issued against several UP politicians including BJP MLAs Sangeet Som, Bhartentu Singh, Suresh Rana, Bharatiya Kisan Union leaders Rakesh Tikait and Naresh Tikait, BSP MP Kadir Rana, BSP MLAs Noor Salim Rana, Jameel Ahmed, Congress leader and former Muzaffarnagar MP Saeed-ur-Zama, Samajwadi Party's Rasheed Siddiqui and 16 other people.
