Congress on Saturday ruled out any possibility of an alliance with Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
"There is no alliance with AAP as of today. AK Antony is the chairman of the party committee which is looking into the question of alliances," Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh told reporters New Delhi.
The above remarks come a day after a Congress spokesman suggested that the party may not be averse to doing business with AAP.
"Our fight is for ideology. We are a big party which believes in connecting people. We have no problem if any like-minded party comes to us," party spokesman Shaktisinh Gohil had said on Friday when asked about the prospect of a tie-up between Congress and AAP.
Congress had provided outside support to the short-lived Kejriwal government in Delhi after recent polls threw up a hung Assembly.
At the same time, Gohil had said that Congress was against the politics of violence. The comment was in reference to the clash between AAP and BJP workers earlier this week in Delhi following Kejriwal's brief detention in Gujarat.
