New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday evening hosted a high tea for all NDA MPs at his residence in the national capital. This was the first time when all the MPs of NDA came together since the BJP led-government assumed office.
The focus of the meeting was on the upcoming winter session of Parliament. The ministers gave presentations on different government schemes including Jan Dhan Yojana and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Talking to the MPs on execution of government policies, the Prime Minister said, "Let us think big. Let us think far. Let us think above politics."
The Prime Minister asked the MPs to visit schools in their areas over a five-day period beginning November 14, the 125th birth anniversary of India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, and explain to children the importance of hygiene.
BJP senior leader Lal Krishna Advani, who also attended the function, said that this Diwali was the best he had ever witnessed, as the party had risen to unprecedented heights.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley briefed the MPs on the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, coal, gas pricing and diesel deregulation.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu gave some tips to the MPs for the upcoming winter session of Parliament.
An invitation was also extended to all the NDA allies including Shiv Sena MPs along with their lone Minister Anand Geete who attended the function inspite of the alliance in Maharashtra being recently called off before the Maharashtra Assembly elections.
