Disappointment is what the cricket fans in India are experiencing currently as the remainder of the T20I matches scheduled between India and England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will be played without crowds in attendance. The move comes in the wake of rising cases of coronavirus in the state of Gujarat and neighbouring Maharashtra. “Due to the rise in the Covid-19 cases, we at GCA, with consultation with BCCI, have decided that the remaining matches to be played behind closed doors,” a press release from the state association said. What this essentially means is that the third (March 16), fourth (March 18), and fifth (March 20) T20I clashes all of which share the same venue as Narendra Modi Stadium have shut doors for the fans.
As the news broke on social media, several fans who were looking forward to catching the live-action between India and England from the stadium expressed their dismay on the microblogging site Twitter.
Many of them shared photos of the tickets they had purchased for the games.

Meanwhile, after losing the first contest, India bounced back strongly in the second clash where debutant Ishan Kishan starred with the bat. Half-centuries from Kishan and captain Virat Kohli that followed a tremendous bowling performance helped India level the series 1-1 with a seven-wicket win over England in the second T20I at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Chasing 165, Kishan made an attacking 56 off 32 with five fours and four sixes to set up the chase. Rishabh Pant then took over with a 13-ball 26 cameo to continue the momentum. Through it all, captain Kohli did what he does best – anchoring the innings before finishing with a flourish to end unbeaten on 73 off 49 as India finished in 17.5 overs.
