ChatGPT Rival Google Gemini AI Launch Delayed: Here's Why
Google Gemini is expected to leverage multimodal learning techniques to process and generate various data formats, including text, images, code, and audio.

Google’s conversational artificial intelligence, ‘Gemini AI,’ designed to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, is now set to launch in January of next year, as the release has been delayed.

As reported by The Information, Google CEO Sundar Pichai has canceled a series of Gemini events in California, New York, and Washington scheduled for next week.

The reason behind this decision is that the company discovered that the AI, Gemini, was not consistently effective in handling queries in languages other than English.

The events that were planned but not publicly disclosed were supposed to be Google’s most significant product launch of the year. This comes after Google exerted a considerable effort, stretching its computing capabilities and consolidating major teams, in a urgent pursuit to compete with OpenAI, the report said.

Google’s Gemini is designed to handle a wide range of applications, merging various sorts of data such as images and text for more advanced tasks.

Gemini is expected to leverage multimodal learning techniques to process and generate various data formats, including text, images, code, and audio. This could enable it to perform tasks like generating creative text formats, translating languages, and coding.

This new AI Model is expected to possess strong generative capabilities, allowing it to generate human-quality text, translate languages, write different kinds of creative content, and answer your questions in an informative way.

In June, Google’s DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis said that Gemini would be more capable than OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Hassabis mentioned the engineers are using techniques from the AI programme AlphaGo — which was the first to defeat a champion human player of the board game Go — to make Gemini. Gemini is likely to bring improvements to Google’s existing AI and AI-enhanced products too, like Bard, Google Assistant and Search.

This new AI system was first teased at Google’s developer conference in May when the company announced the new AI projects.
