BYJU’S one of India’s most popular e-learning company, has recently introduced a new update to its Disney.BYJU’s Early Learn app that brings a new ‘Science’ learning program for children in first to third standard. The program is aimed at introducing and igniting interest in science among children. The app presents everyday science concepts as familiar stories featuring Disney’s timeless stories and characters from Disney Princess, Frozen, Cars, The Lion King, Toy Story, and more.
In the new program, science concepts are explained and presented in through various formats like videos, interactive activities, sing-along rhymes, engaging stories, quizzes, and more to encourage kids to explore further. For example, Mr. Incredible from the hit Disney Pixar film “The Incredibles” is known for his strength, so children can learn about and understand the importance of muscles in the human body through interactive videos featuring him. The new version also introduces special upgrades that help parents take part in learning activities.
Vinay MR, Chief Content Officer for BYJU’S said, “Young minds are naturally curious and the early years offer a perfect opportunity to help children develop a love for learning. Science is a part of our daily life and our science program has been designed to help children explore, practice, and understand concepts of science early on, in an enriching and effective manner. BYJU’S pedagogy, engaging videos, and content expertise combined with Disney’s world-class storytelling aim at fuelling curiosity and the love for learning in children from their foundational years.”
The Disney.BYJU’S Early Learn app was launched in 2019 with learning programs for children in classes 1-3 (for children aged 6-8 years), and was later updated with programs for children in LKG and UKG in June 2020. The app now houses learning programs in Mathematics and English for children aged 4-5 years and learning programs in Mathematics, Science, and English for children aged 6-8 years. Here are some of the key features of the updated Disney.BYJU’S Early Learn app include:
Handwriting recognition: There is a digitally-enabled worksheet that is developed in-house. The worksheet takes the Osmo worksheets experience to a whole new level by allowing kids to directly write their answers on the actual worksheets (digitally enabled). With the help of Osmo’s downward-facing camera, the app then evaluates what they have written and gives them feedback.
Recommendation Engine: Through this feature, the app’s engine suggests tasks with the highest chance of engagement for each child using the app to ensure that they remain engaged with the app content. The engine’s mechanism also takes into account several signals including subject affinity, chapter recency, knowledge profile, and proficiency to surface the most relevant pieces of content for each child using the app.
Learning Map: There is also a learning map that gives parents a visual representation of their child’s progress and capabilities. With “progress cards” to indicate tasks completed by their child and a “skills” section to display their strengths in different skills, this feature provides parents with much-needed insight into their child’s learning journey.
Parent-child activities: This feature offers fun activities that parents can engage in with their child to enhance their learning experience.
