Hyatt guests will be able to continue binge-watching their favourite shows and Netflix series at their hotel with the launch of an in-room streaming service that integrates personal streaming accounts to the hotel's mobile app.
That means saving a bundle on expensive in-room entertainment.
For guests with Netflix, Hulu and YouTube accounts, that also means being able to catch up on their favourite series or videos on their room TVs through a Chromecast device.
The service works with more than 1,000 streaming apps and services and is currently available at a dozen Hyatt hotels in the US, with more to follow. Also read: Google Areo Android App Unveiled For Food Delivery, Home Services
In addition to streaming shows, guests can also stream their photos, videos and work presentations for upcoming meetings through the Staycast-powered service.
The World of Hyatt app allows guests to make room requests like more towels or toothpaste, or request an Uber ride to the hotel.
But Hyatt isn't the first to bring the Staycast technology to hotels. Last spring, the Boston Park Plaza launched the technology managed by Sonifi.
After connecting to the hotel Wi-Fi, guests simply browse their Netflix or Hulu mobile app and launch their favourite shows on their hotel room TV screens.
Roku and Amazon Fire TV Sticks also allow guests to stream their shows to their hotel rooms. Also read: Robotic Food Delivery Begins in San Francisco
