OnePlus 2 to come with the new USB Type-C port

New Delhi: After Apple MacBook and LeTV Superphones, OnePlus has confirmed that its next flagship smartphone – the OnePlus 2 will also come with the unique USB Type-C port.

The company announced the new feature on Twitter and said that OnePlus 2 will be the first-ever smartphone by the company to come with the reversible port for charging, data transfer, and external output.

In a Type-C port, a USB cable is reversible which means both of its ends will be the same and you will not be required to check if you are inserting the cable in the right way.

As Gizmodo notes, the Type-C port can transfer data faster at up to 10 Gbps; can project videos without DisplayPort or HDMI from phone to PC or other screens and back; and is backwards-compatible, which means you can simply attach it to an adapter and use it with the old ports.

The upcoming flagship smartphone is also expected to come packed with an improved Snapdragon 810 processor and a quad HD display.

When Chinese manufacturer LeTV announced the world’s first USB Type-C smartphones, it upset Apple and other smartphone manufacturers like Huawei and HTC. However, with a renewed focus on slimmer smartphones without a compromise on the core aspects, the new type of charging port makes for a sensible adoption.
